St. John has a strong history of feeding its Elwood neighbours.
Our keystone effort is the End of Month Meal Ministry. A dedicated volunteer team prepares and delivers around 600 meals once each month.
The next meal is Saturday, September 26. We only deliver meals in Elwood. Please call the church at 765-552-6125 between 9 and 10 a.m. on Saturday, the 26th, if you need a meal delivery or wish to pick one up at the church.
We welcome volunteers to cook Friday, the 25th. Please call the church at 765-552-6125 and leave a message if you are available.
Financial support to this ministry is welcome. Place donations in the offering plate or mail to the church. and mark them for "EOM Ministry".

Another way St. John answers God's call to help those in need.
First Sunday, Food Sunday! builds on the food ministries already in place at St. John.
3,092 lbs. of food have been donated since our first collection in May, 2025 - a smaller church can make a big splash! Our next collection will be Sunday, September 6.
Grocery bags are distributed the preceding Sunday noting items of particular need.
Food goes to the Elwood Community Pantry & Morrisett Center. Monetary donations should be put in the offering plate noting whether the gift supports the Morrisett Center or St. John’s own End of Month Meal Ministry.

St. John is one provider of meals in Elwood but there are others ready to assist those in need. May God bless all these ministries and those who utilize them.

God's Word inspires us to serve others.
Bible Study is on summer recess, but don't let that slow your study of Scripture!
Daily readings may be found on the back of the Celebrate insert in the Sunday bulletin and on-line at the ELCA website below:

We make a joyful noise to the Lord!
Our organist, Sarah, is a graduate of both St. Olaf College and Indiana University School of Music. She leads the congregation in music on our small but mighty Wicks pipe organ.

Gardeners Meals are Wednesday nights at 6:00 p.m. in the Picnic Shelter or New Fellowship Hal, depending on the weather. Bring your own meal and enjoy the fellowship. All are welcome, not just the gardeners!

St. John has a garden with plots available to anyone in the community who would like to grow vegetables! Plots have been marked and the garden is now open for business in 2026.
If you are interested in a plot for the 2027 growing season, please call the church office at 765-552-6125 and leave a message with your contact information.

Our Day of Service project was a great day of fellowship! We spread mulch, removed brush and cut up fallen trees, but most of all, everyone present served and was served through the power of God's love for us.
This year the Day of Service will be Saturday, September 12.
Check back in August for details on our next project!

The 2026 Spring Market was a success and we thank the patrons, vendors and members for making it a fine day.
Check back next spring for details about the next edition of Spring Market scheduled for Saturday, May 8, 2027.
